Orlando, FL, weather
Regarding
the weather in Orlando,
FL, be prepared for a humid subtropical
climate. Experiencing mild winters and hot and sunny summers, residents
experience a love-hate relationship with mother nature. Orlando is ranked the
10th hottest for summer weather; adjusting to the heat can take up to three
weeks. On average, daily temperatures reach 90 degrees in the summer, with much
colder and drier conditions during winter, with an average high temperature of
70 degrees and a low of 50 degrees. So if you're relocating here, remember to
bring some warmer clothing! The annual rainy period from June through
September is something to keep in mind too. Aside from afternoon rain showers
and thunderstorms being part of everyday life, temperatures are usually around
90°F with high humidity levels - so having a rain jacket or umbrella handy
might be a good idea. With 105 days out of the year seeing this kind of
weather, at least you get some respite from the scorching heat!

A Florida 911 dispatcher outlines the procedure for responding to emergency calls.
I
read the news about the procedures for answering 911 calls. During the National
Public Safety Telecommunicators week, they spoke to those who answer your 911
calls about the process behind responding to an emergency. Johana Santiago is a
telecommunicator with the Kissimmee Police Department and has five years of
experience in taking 911 calls. According to her, when she answers the
phone, the first step is figuring out where the caller is from. People usually
struggle with this, so I ask them what they can see around them, like specific
buildings or stores. Also, she said getting their phone number is vital in case
of disconnection. She's handled many emergencies, from neighbor
disputes to CPR instructions over the phone. They have fielded hundreds of calls
daily at KPD and take each one just as seriously. Some callers get impatient
with all the questions, but Santiago explains that they help officers or
paramedics understand what they're going into before arriving at the scene. I
know dealing with people who are scared and panicked on the phone must be
tough. Read
